| Bio: | So, what's there to know about me.... I live in Germany and am the daughter of immigrants (so-called "Gastarbeiter") - my parents came to Germany in the early seventies ("just for a couple of years, 5 years max"... yeah, make that "30+" years now!) and met here and got married. I was the result of this union I grew up in a kind of mixed household - both my parents are from former Yugoslavia (Croatia AND Serbia, respectively), so not only did I have the advantage of speaking 2 languages from the very start (German and Serbocroatian, as it was called back then), I also got to enjoy the best sides of both cultures - the exuberant and boisterous temperament of my ancestors combined with the composed and aloof discipline and self-control of the German people (not that they can't be party animals, too!) My parents both have HUGE families (last time I counted, the "closer family" comprised around 20 aunts and uncles and 40+ cousins, some of whom have already gotten married and have children of their own, as well) - unfortunately, none of them live in Germany, so while it's always fun to go visit them when I'm on vacation, I miss them terribly and it's always hard to leave them behind when I have to get back to my life here. I can't say I ever resented my parents for staying in Germany, though - there were definitely certain advantages, and it even turned out to be a strike of luck when the war in Croatia began and the Republic of Yugoslavia broke apart, as we were in a position to provide shelter for family members. The wounds in both countries still need to heal, especially economically, so we're at least able to help out. My interests are somewhat meager and boring - I love going to the movies, surfing the web, meeting with friends and just chatting with them (am not much of a disco-chick), or simply staying at home and reading a good book. One of my greatest passions in life are the Harry Potter books (as of 2001) and the whole HP community (as of 2002), ranging from fanfiction to discussion forums (on FAP I go by the nickname "little monzta") to HP dedicated websites (TLC!!!) and livejournals - that's how I got prompted into creating a livejournal of my own in the first place, and since the majority of the fandom I lurk in is communicating in English, my LJ entries will mostly be in English as well. So, let's hope for a fun time! :) | ||
